DUBAI -- Bilateral trade and tourism efforts were discussed between Dubai and Austria during a meeting attended by officials of both the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and the Embassy of Austria in the UAE.

DTCM Director-General Khalid A. bin Sulayem met Austrian Ambassador Gerald Kriechbaum to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Austria and the emirate.

Bin Sulayem highlighted Dubai's growth in tourist arrivals and the success story that the DTCM has scripted for Dubai, establishing it firmly on the world tourism map.

Austria and Dubai have traditionally shared rich trade and tourism ties with the year 2005 recording a 46 per cent increase in the number of Austrian hotel guests in Dubai.

The DTCM Director-General also met Dr Armando Brunini, CEO of Eurofly, Italy's front-ranking vacation airline.

Bin Sulayem discussed with Brunini the immense potential of leisure tourism in Dubai and the possibility of Eurofly working in close tandem with Europe's leading cruise operator to boost cruise tourism in the region.
